And because your needs can evolve, your learning plan can evolve with you. We are happy to adjust and adapt your program right on the go — should the need arise.
But the classroom is only the beginning! Your learning plan prioritizes outdoor immersive lessons where instead of practising situations in a textbook, you experience them for real.
With your teacher’s assistance, depending on your level and confidence, you might:
Homestay
A host family is optional — other types of accommodation are available as well if you prefer — but for many learners it becomes one of the most memorable parts of the experience.
What does homestay really mean? It means discussing your plans for the day over breakfast and chatting while preparing dinner.
It means asking questions you didn’t prepare in advance. It means discovering how Russians actually speak, live and interact.
The everyday life that no textbook can reproduce.
Before your arrival, you tell RuTerra about your preferences:

It combines everything you need to truly experience Russia — not as a visitor, but as someone living in it.
"Russia started from here " — an ancient Russian city
with more than 1,100 years of history.
Pskov is one of Russia's oldest cities with more than 100 white-walled churches, the ancient Kremlin (Krom) as its heart, fortress walls, monasteries and monuments dating back to the 12th century. It is located in the country's northwest, close to Saint Petersburg and within easy reach of other historic destinations (such as Novgorod and Moscow)
Pechory 12 km · Izborsk 30 km · Pushkin's Mikhailovskoye 70 km
But perhaps most importantly:
Pskov lets you experience everyday Russian life.
Not from inside a tourist bubble.
But through people, language, work, food, culture and ordinary daily experiences.
A few views of the city — the Kremlin walls on the river confluence, the old-town skyline and the white-walled churches Pskov is known for.
Historic Pskov. interactive and immersive excursions and sightseeing tours in the city of Pskov.
And if you want to see more than Pskov, we are happy to arrange individual local tours and trips as part of your cultural experience. Depending on your interests and schedule, this can include excursions to:

1.5 hours · the Krom walls from the water, best an hour before sunset.
Glazed ceramics workshop
2 hours · throw and glaze a Pskov-style piece
Educational city quests
3 hours · walk through the city center solving riddles and searching for mini-sculptures of ‘barsiks’ - snow leopard - which is the beloved mascot of Pskov).

Meet the Founder
Founder of RuTerra — Russian as a Foreign Language Studio
Russian language educator · EdTech specialist · Program designer
I am a native Russian speaker, born in Pskov, with higher pedagogical education and 20 years of experience teaching languages — Russian, English and German.
For more than 10 years, I have worked in international EdTech, specializing in designing and implementing business language learning and communication training programs.
Over the years, we have designed and organized immersive Russian-language programs for learners from:
at levels A1 to C2.
What I have learned from all these experiences is simple: The fastest way to improve a language is to start using it for real. Even if you don't feel ready yet.
This is the idea behind RuTerra.
We combine:
personalized learning program + professional immersion + local connections + cultural experience
to create something much more personal than a language course.
A Russian experience designed around you.
This experience may be for you if...
You are studying Russian and want to move beyond academic exercises. Use Russian every day. Explore your professional field. Meet people.
You need Russian for work, business or your future career. Build language skills and professional confidence at the same time.
You have studied Russian for months or years, but still feel that something is missing. Come to Russia and finally put your knowledge into practice.
You are planning to study, work or develop professional connections in Russia. Build the language and cultural confidence you will actually need.
Perhaps you love the language, literature, history or culture. You don't need a professional reason. Come and experience Russian where it is spoken every day.
"Privet! I went to Pskov and participated in the Ru Terra Russian Language course for one week. I had an opportunity to practice my Russian all the time while living with a lovely family. The lessons I had were really interesting and stimulating :) Thanks to Marina for providing such a fantastic course at such a good price!!"
"The lessons in Pskov were very clear, helping me to remember Grammar rules and extend my vocabulary of the Russian words, motivating me to focus more on learning the Russian language. The teachers have shining personalities, and they are professional and very patient, explaining all the ambiguities and unclear words."
"I’ve just finished a three-week intensive Russian course at RuTerra in Pskov and can say that I am very happy with my progress and experience. I’ve not attended another such course before, so can’t compare, but what I can say is I really appreciated the level of professionalism from all the teachers, who clearly know their way around the Russian language and are interested in the topic. Lessons are laid back, meaning we could keep going whenever we wanted, as well as take a breather when all that Russian gets a bit heavy. Marina chose for us a really interesting and relevant course book for our level, mixed with activities from other sources and even trips out. I think I rarely spent an evening alone during my entire 3 weeks in Pskov. I felt like a regular Pskovich (the person who lives in Pskov) by the end, and was even showing a friend from Moscow around town. Marina was invaluable for her role as chief organiser, and even when minor disasters struck (missed buses in Riga, problems with visas), she takes it in her stride so if you’re feeling a bit nervous, you’re in caring hands indeed. Thank you!"
